In the FSX time I had IvAp installed so I could fly online. Since I installed Prepar3D I had not flown online because I had been busy with my simpit. This is almost finished (for now) so online flying is back in view, but the installation went far from automatic (on the contrary).
After the installation, according to the installation program, there was no IvAp entry within Prepar3D. The Prepar3D installation of IvAp has gone wrong. After some investigations there were some files that had not been adapted by IvAp. Below are the steps to manually install those adaptions so IvAp will work within Prepar3D.
IvAp installation.
- First make sure there is a fsx.exe file within the Prepar3D directory. This can be accomplished by renaming an empty text file or copying Prepar3D.exe and renaming that.
- Install IvAp with the installer and make a choice between a single or multi computer setup according to your own setup.
- Choose a FSX installation and navigate to the Prepar3D directory.
- You will get an error about the registry but you can ignore that.
- If you allready have an installation of MTL, you don’t have to install that again, else you will.
- Then decide how Prepar3D is run, windowed or full screen. I advice you to choose windowed. If IvAp crashes (and it will) Prepar3D will still run.
- Do not install FSUIPC, you will probably have a more recent version.
- Choose where you want IvAp to be installed and remeber this location.
- Install TeamSpeak.
- Make sure you have the latest (Prepar3D compatible version) installed.
SimConnect.
To make a connection with Prepar3D you will need SimConnect. Do not use the Prepar3D version but the FSX version.
- This has been installed during the Prepar3D installation and can be found in the “redist / Interface” directory.
- You will find a number of directories. First install from the “FSX-SP1 / retail / lib” directory and afterwards from the “FSX-SP2-XPACK / retail / lib” directory. Both by starting the “SimConnect.msi”.
DLL.XML adaptions.
After installing IvAp it resides on your hard drive, but there is no link to it from within Prepar3D. This has to be done manually by following these steps.
- Go to the AppData directory. Hold the Windows key while pressing the R, then type %AppData% and press Enter.
- Go to the “Lockheed Martin / Prepar3D v2” directory. There you will find the “dll.xml” file. Open it with your favorite text editor and add the following lines directly after the lines with comparable content:
<Launch.Addon>
<Name>IvAp</Name>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<Path>C:\Program Files (x86)\IVAO\IvAp v2\ivap_fsx_bootstrap.dll</Path>
<Commandline></Commandline>
</Launch.Addon>
Make sure that the “Path” is the same as where you installed the software. - Save the file and check if the IvAp entry is visible within the Add-on menu of Prepar3D.
MTL.
The MTL files are installed, but there is still no link to them from within Prepar3D. You will also have to do this manually.
- Again go to the “AppData / Lockheed Martin / Prepar3D v2” directory as described above.
- Open the “Prepar3D.cfg” file with your favorite text editor.
- In the “[Main]” section you will see a number of lines with “SimObjectPaths”. You will have to add the next line:
SimObjectPaths.7=SimObjects\IVAO_MTL - Make sure that the number (in the line above “7”) is 1 higher that the highest present number.
- Save the file again and start Prepar3D once again to see if everything is working correctly.
- It is possible that you will have to reboot your system to get all changes working.
Hello!
I have to problems
1. In my prepar3d.cfg file i do no se any lines with numbers
2. When i start ivap client, i cant se any servers, only training.
Can you help with this kind problems?
Hi Vitaly,
1. if no numbered line is present (I suspect in the MTL part) then you will have to create this line with number “0”.
2. You will have to create your own links to IVAP servers. I normally create a link to server #1 and when that is functional clone that link, name it #2 and edit the server to #2 and so on until you have alle the servers you want. How to create these links (especially the names of the servers) is documented at the IVAO site.
Greetings,
Theo.

I have tryed to taste manualy a servers name, but every time I push connect it writes “connection failed/lost”
Hi Vitaly,
you will have to add the next line to your [MAIN] section:
SimObjectPaths.0=SimObjects\IVAO_MTL

Theo.
okay. Like this?

Hi Vitaly,
looks good to me (provided that you did install the MTL files in the default location), do you now have the MTL planes visible?
Greetings,
Theo.
After i add the xml part the p3d doesnt start. If i remove the ivao line in the xml file the sim starts normaly. How can i fix it?
The only thing I can think of is a typo in the added line of xml code. Check it carefully, XML is very strict.

Hi,
I am operating P3D v3.4 based home cockpit comprising of 04 Client computers for outside panoramic scenery view and one Server computer for controlling Client computers through WideViewX and WideTrafficX programs.
I have installed IvAp on Sever computer with IVAO MTL library in Simobjects folder of main Prepar3D v3 floder. I have also copied IVAO MTL library in Simobjects folder of main Prepar3D v3 folder of all 04 client computers. I am able to successfully connect to IVAO network such that ATC and other aircrafts can see my aircraft. However, I do not see any other aircrafts, even when they are flying nearby me.
Can you please tell me how to setup IvAp correctly on my setup so that I can see other aircrafts ?
Is there any tutorial available to setup IvAp on networked Server and Client computers based cockpit ?
Best Regards
Rao Muhammad Faisal
Hi Rao,
IvAp has to run on the same computer as Prepar3D does. It is indeed a pain in the ass to get it all to work like it should. This mainly because IVAO apparently does not maintain their own software to keep up with the software used in FS flying. Hence there is no support for Prepar3D and they are still using TeamSpeak 2. I have stopped using IVAO (not only due to these problems but also because I frequently had “collisions” with unfriendly and “unprofesionally” acting ATC). I would advise you to take a look at VATSIM for online flying as I have done and I am satisfied with their coverage, software and training program for thei ATC.

Hello.. Even i make a copy of Prepar3d.exe file which named Fsx.exe. Ivap still doesn’t let me install. i still get a red text “No Flight Simulator Installation found, manuel override required to continue” i couldn’t solve that problem. Please help.
Hi Cenk,

Greetings,
I just moved to P3Dv4. Have read some articles with regards to :
1. Only if you are online on the same platform (P3Dv4 and the other end P3Dv4) that you will be able to see each other. Otherwise we will only see wingtip navigation lights and not the entire airframe. Can that be done for correction?
2. IVAP have to be installed externally. That”s the case with me. Can that be done internally as my previous P3Dv3.
Thank you in advance.
mfn
I have no idea on both items. First of all my B738 cockpit still runs P3D v3 and second I don’t use IVAO anymore for flying due to the fact that their software is quite outdated and full of problems to get it running on Prepar3d (as you have found out yourself). Since quit some time I fly with Vatsim on both my B738 as my B58 cockpit *which runs on X-Plane 11) and I am very satisfied with it.

Hi,
I have followed all the steps, IvAp installed, routing to P3D set, MTL added, but when I run P3D (v4) a then externally as administrator start IvAp, it shows green MP, FS and NET but when I connect, it shows online, but no “Welcome text” as usually happens, I can’t see any ATC, no weather is set, can’t ask for METAR or ATIS, nobody sees me or I them. I’ve tried to switch off Firewall, different settings etc., no change.
Any idea where the problem could be?
Many thanks
Ivo,
as you can read in the previous answers to simular questions I have given up on IvAp due to the fact that they do not evolve their software with the new applications available for flight simming. I have been using VatSim for quite some time now with full satisfaction and hence do not put any time in IVAO software since.

Theo.
Hi
Can you help me please with Ivap in surround monitors?
When cklik on bar and clik on Ivap start it normaly… sim move down to windows and ivap work ..but when I want to go back in full screen I have a problem to show ivap I have to fly only on 1 monitor .
Dave,
as you can read in previous answers to requests for help I stopped using IvAp due to its lack of support for modern applications. Hence I cannot support any questions about IvAp anymore. I switched to VATSIM and I am very pleased with it. You should give it a try to see if you also like it.
Greetings,
Theo.
Hi Theo,
Are AI traffic models available in Vatsim compatible with P3Dv4 ? What type of AI traffic pack are you using with Vatsim in P3Dv4 ?
Best Regards
Hi, when i try to start IVAP in P3Dv4 nothing happens, ivap doesnt appears. The dll.xml entry is already done and crosscheckt 100000 times. Do you have any idea?
As stated earlier in this thread I don’t use P3D and/or IVAO anymore for a couple of years now. The software is not maintained anymore (as far as I know) and is pretty hard to get running.
Greetings,
Theo.
